Kingston & St Andrew Now Better Able to Withstand Low Water Supply

The National Water Commission says Kingston and St. Andrew are now better able to withstand periods of low water supply, after they fixed more than 3,000 leaks over the past year.

Corporate Public Relations Manager at the NWC, Charles Buchanan, says the repairs are part of a 5-year programme to reduce Non-Revenue Water.

He says NWC workers worked day and night doing additional sweeps of the pipelines to identify the leaks.

According to Mr. Buchanan, the Mona Reservoir is now at 100 percent capacity due to the pipe repairs and high rainfall this year.
