The Ministry of Labour has called an emergency conciliation meeting between the management of the National Housing Trust, NHT, and the union representing its staff.
Workers at the NHT were reported to be restive yesterday.
Several reportedly called in sick as a dispute between the National Housing Trust Staff Association and the Government intensifies.
The staff association is affiliated with the University and Allied Workers’ Union, UAWU.
In a statement yesterday, the Labour Ministry says the meeting will start at 10 o’clock this morning.
Workers of the NHT are the latest group of public sector employees to stage industrial action over wage negotiations with the government.
This follows sick outs from more than 2,000 rank and file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force last year. There was also a sick out from nurses.
Concerns still linger that public school teachers too could soon take industrial action.
