Lights Out at NMIA

An investigation is on to determine what caused airfield lights at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, to malfunction last evening, resulting in the temporary closure of the facility.

Senior Director of Commercial Development and Planning at Norman Manley International Airports Limited, Alfred McDonald, says the malfunction is unusual.

He says three flights were affected by the technical failure.

The issues yesterday caused a Jet-Blue flight from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which was to land at Norman Manley, to be diverted to Sangster International Airport, in Montego Bay, St. James.
