UWI Crime and National Security expert, Professor Anthony Clayton, says a number of Jamaica’s Members of Parliament and Senators should be imprisoned for their links to crime.
Professor Clayton says the links between politics and organized crime in the country is not as pervasive as it was once, but still present.
Professor Clayton was addressing a Jamaica Public Service Forum at UWI, Mona yesterday, where he presented a background on crime and violence in Jamaica.
Clayton is a Professor at the Caribbean Sustainable Development Institute at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus. He says 90-percent of the country’s wealth is lost to crime and corruption.
Professor Clayton is also raising concerns about the likely success of the government’s crime-fighting initiative, the Zones of Special Operations, ZOSO.
