Major Fallout at SDA Church; Police Member Charged for Sexually Assaulting Boy Still Supervises Youth Group

Nationwide News understands that there’s discord at the Riverton Meadows Seventh Day Adventist Church in St. Andrew, with several members resigning from the Church’s Board of Directors.

The discord was sparked by the arrest and charge of Police Sergeant, Dalton Lesley, a member of the church.

Sergeant Lesley is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year old boy.

Sources at the church tell our news center that members of the flock are dissatisfied with how the Church has responded to the troubling developments.

Sources at the church tell our news centre that despite facing a criminal charge, Sergeant Lesley has been allowed to supervise a youth group.

He’s also alleged to have taken the children on unsupervised outings.

Efforts on Sunday to get a response from the leadership of the Church were unsuccessful.

Calls placed to Sergeant Lesley’s mobile phone were not answered.

In Court last Tuesday, Sergeant Lesley, who’s attached to the Hunts Bay Police, was granted bail in the sum of 2-hundred-and-50 thousand dollars with surety.

Senior Resident Magistrate, Judith Pusey, warned him not to interfere with the witnesses in the case.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, had ruled that Sergeant Lesley be charged.

The policeman has been ordered to return to the Corporate Area Criminal Court on July 22.
