Major General Antony Anderson Front-Runner for Top Cop Job

Nationwide News understands that National Security Advisor, Major General Antony Anderson, is the front-runner to replace George Quallo as Police Commissioner.

Major General Anderson is a former Chief of Defence Staff of the Jamaica Defence Force, JDF.

Several candidates – including Acting Commissioner of Police, Clifford Blake, were interviewed by the Police Service Commission, PSC. But it’s understood Major General Anderson is tipped to be appointed as Commissioner.

Deputy Commissioner Blake has been acting as Commissioner since Mr. Quallo left the post at the end of January. Calls placed this afternoon to PSC Chairman, Professor Gordon Shirley were not answered.

National Security Minister Robert Montague told our news center today that his Ministry has not been advised by the PSC who’ll be the new Commissioner.
