Culture Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, says she’s holding a series of consultations with the National Security Minister and the Police Commissioner on the Noise Abatement Act.

Several entertainers have called on the government to allow them to hold events beyond 2AM, and have criticized that the restrictions are stifling the local culture.

But the Prime Minister says he has to consider all stakeholders when making those decisions.

In a statement, Minister Grange says she’s met with stakeholders in theentertainment industry to discuss some proposals to amend the legislation.

She says she told entertainers that she’s made proposals regarding the days and hours that would be approved for entertainment events, extension of hours, and the establishment of entertainment zones.

Minister Grange says she’s also seeking a solution to the ongoing conflict between the police and the Dancehall fraternity, including sound system operators.

According to Ms Grange, any lasting solution would require a balanced approach from all involved.
