Minister Johnson-Smith Says Get Enumerated, In Case of General Elections

Cabinet Minister, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, is urging JLP workers and supporters to ensure that as many of the party’s well wishers are enumerated before September 29 this year.

People who are not enumerated before September 29 will not be able to vote if a General Election is held before the end of May next year.

Minister Johnson Smith appeared before a JLP Area Council 3 meeting yesterday and said she has no idea when Prime Minister Holness will call a General Election.

But the Foreign Affairs Minister and Government Senate Leader urged labourites to put the JLP in the best position possible  whenever the Prime Minister makes that call.

Minister Johnson Smith told JLP supporters to be vigilant in light of what she described as desperation which is developing in the PNP to return to office.

Minister Smith, is rejecting as hypocritical criticism being leveled at the JLP administration by the PNP about the poor state of infrastructure in some crucial sectors in Jamaica.

Opposition Leader Dr. Peter Phillips and his challenger for presidency of the PNP, Peter Bunting, have recently criticized the Holness-administration.

Both PNP officials have taken the Government to task for the dilapidated state of the health sector and some security institution.

Senator Johnson Smith delivered the keynote address at a JLP Area Council meeting yesterday and said it must be noted that the Government is taking steps to address the problems.

Minister Johnson Smith says the Government is intensifying efforts to improve upon recent gains.
