Montague Confident following Creation of Security Advisor Post

Minister of National Security, Robert Montague, says the newly created post of National Security Advisor will ensure coordination and implementation of policy across multiple ministries.

Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, announced the creation of the post last week — the first of its kind in Jamaica’s history.

Chief of Defense Staff, Major General Antony Anderson, will be the country’s first National Security Advisor, effective December 1.

Minister Montague says General Anderson will effectively function as the Secretariat of the National Security Council.

He says General Anderson will be the first point of contact for Jamaica’s foreign security partners.

Mr Montague says the government is also trying to have the National Security Council be anchored in law.
