Chief Technical Officer at the National Solid Waste Management Authority, NSWMA, Audley Gordon, is promising that all major towns will soon have new garbage bins.
Mr. Gordon says the limited number of bins does little to deter persons from littering. But Mr. Gordon is encouraging persons to exercise more civic pride in keep their surroundings clean.
Calling the $2,000 penalty for littering a joke, Mr. Gordon says he hopes an increase, would do more to deter the practice.
Mr. Gordon says garbage collection resumed yesterday and a number of cut down tree branches were removed from roadways.
Meanwhile Dennis Chung is commending the National Solid Waste Management Authority, NSWMA, for its work in preparing for Hurricane Matthew.
The PSOJ CEO is also the Chairman of the Board of the NSWMA.
He gave the Agency high marks for its efforts considering the limited resources.
