Nationwide’s Reporter and Presenter, Rashawn Thompson, is a 2015/2016 recipient of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship.
The award is the United Kingdom government’s global scholarship scheme, funded by its Foreign and Commonwealth Office, FCO.
It aims to identify high-calibre graduates with the personal and intellectual qualities necessary for leadership.
Rashawn is one of nine Jamaican recipients of the prestigious scholarship this year.
The British High Commission in Kingston today announced the names of the awardees.
The others are: Oroyo Eubanks of JIS, Assistant Superintendent Gordon Ellison, Adley Duncan, Lavere Henry, Jerome Cowan, Sherika Whitelock Ballingsingh, Grace Lindo, and Melissa Townsend.
In September, Rashawn will leave for the University of Westminster in London to pursue a Masters Degree in International Media Business.
The 2013 Press Association of Jamaica’s Young Journalist of the Year, Rashawn, began working at Nationwide News Network in 2011.
He graduated from the University of the West Indies, Mona, in 2012 with a First Class Honours degree in Media and Communication.
