Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett and US Ambassador to Jamaica, Donald Tapia yesterday welcomed a new daily non-stop American Airlines service between New York’s JFK International Airport and Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.
In a statement the Tourism Ministry said the visitors were treated to a warm welcome which included a performance by a Jamaican mento band.
Several tourism bigwigs including Director of Tourism Donovan Whyte and Senior Advisor and Strategist, Delano Seiveright were also on hand to receive the flight.
Mr. Seiveright says the new service is an important development.
Seiveright says the increasing buoyancy in the tourism space is attributable to Minister Bartlett’s consistent piloting of specific growth inducing efforts.
He says the new American Airlines service from JFK airport comes within the context of a general increase in flights between the US and Jamaica.
