Chairman of the National Solid Waste Management Authority, NSWMA, Dennis Chung, says the selection of a new Executive Director for the organization should be done in a matter of weeks.
Speaking with Nationwide News, Mr. Chung says the Board will soon select a short list of three candidates for final assessment.
The JLP’s Deputy General Secretary, Audley Gordon, is among 18 persons who have applied for the post.
The contract of the previous Executive Director, Jennifer Edwards, was not renewed following the devastating March 2015 Riverton Fire.
Mr. Chung says the Ministry of Local Government will be consulted on the final candidates to avoid any possible challenge to the board’s decision.
