New PS Takes Over at Education Ministry


A new Permanent Secretary has been appointed in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information.

He’s attorney-at-law, Deanroy Bernard. His appointment takes effect today.

Education Minister, Ruel Reid, made the announcement last Friday.

Mr. Bernard has served senior positions in the Ministries of National Security, Justice, and Finance and Planning.

Since 2010, he also served in the Education Ministry as Director of Compliance and Post Audit.

Mr. Bernard is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, having passed the examination for Certified Accountants in 2004.

Prior to his assignment with the Ministry of Education, he worked as the Deputy Director at the Caricom Implementation Agency for Crime and Security, based in Trinidad and Tobago.

He’s also been serving as Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation since March this year.
