NIR Down; But Good

The Bank of Jamaica says the country’s Net International Reserves declined at the end of June this year, when compared to the figure at the end of May.

At the end of June the NIR stood at just over USD$2.1-billion.

That’s approximately USD$284-million more than the figure at the end of May.

At the current level, the NIR can cover approximately 20-weeks of goods and services purchases, well above the international benchmark of 12-weeks coverage.
