Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, says the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston has seen a decline in arrivals during the first week of the New Year.
Minister Bartlett says this is in contrast to the Sangster International Airport in St James which saw an increase.
He says the Palisadoes debacle on New Year’s Day may be partly to blame but might not be the only factor.
He was speaking with Nationwide News this afternoon following the official opening of Knutsford Express in St James.
Unruly patrons of the Sandz party and poor police traffic management are being blamed for the gridlock that disrupted operations at the Norman Manley International Airport.
There are fears that the country could be sued by a major overseas airline.
The Tourism Minister wouldn’t confirm or deny if this is the case.
Minister Bartlett says there are lessons to be learned from the event.
