No Licence Needed For Maroon Bank Unless Operating Outside Accompong, says Attorney Dr. Goffe

Attorney Dr. Marcus Goffe, who specializes in intellectual property law, says the Maroons shouldn’t have to engage the Jamaican government if their newly-established Central Bank is only operating in Accompong.

Meanwhile, Dr. Goffe says the Maroons and the Jamaican government should seek to reach a resolution on the Cockpit Country.

Accompong’s Finance Minister, Chief Timothy McPherson told Nationwide News recently that the Maroons are the rightful owners of the Cockpit Country under the 1738 Peace Treaty.

Chief McPherson also recently sent a letter to The Queen contending that the mining leases in the Cockpit Country are a breach of the 281-year old Peace Treaty.
