The Office of the Contractor General, OCG, is moving to complete its probe into allegations of fraud and corruption in the Lisa Hanna led-South East St. Ann constituency.
The OCG revealed last September that his office had uncovered fraud, forgery and corruption as part of its ongoing probe into the awarding of contracts by the St. Ann Parish Council.
Contractor General Dirk Harrison says the completion of the investigation has been delayed due to what he calls ‘other competing interests’.
And, Mr. Harrison says his office hopes to complete its investigation into the government’s controversial 600 million dollar de-bushing and drain-cleaning programme soon.
Dirk Harrison was speaking with Nationwide News yesterday, after the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Caribbean Association of Integrity Commissions and Anti-Corruption Bodies Conference in Kingston.
The government came under fire from the Opposition for rolling out the de-bushing and drain cleaning programme last November, close to the Local Government election.
