The government is set intensify its public relations activities next month.
This as the Finance Minister, Dr. Peter Phillips, is to make himself available to field calls during a radio call in programme on Power 106 FM.
The segment dubbed ‘Call the Finance Minister” is expected to address issues of the Jamaican economy.
As we hear in this report from Dennis Brooks, Dr. Phillips says he wants to reason with Jamaicans about the future of the economy.
Dr. Phillips says his inter-active will allow Jamaicans to discuss with him the challenges confronting the Jamaican economy and economies elsewhere around the world.
The Finance Minister says he also wants to engage the public on why it’s necessary for the government to have undertaken such a stringent IMF programme.
Dr. Phillips refused to be drawn on whether the inter-active is simply a vehicle to drum up support for the PNP, ahead of the next general election.
According to Dr. Phillips, with the country apparently now on election watch, persons will attempt to politicize every move made by the government.
