Opposition Bats for Raised Minimum Wage


Opposition Spokesman on Labour, Dr. Fenton Ferguson, is urging the government to phase in an increase in the minimum wage.

This, after the Jamaica Labour Party made an election promise to double it.

Dr. Ferguson today criticized Labour Minister, Shahine Robinson, for making no reference to the minimum wage in her sectoral presentation last week.

Dr. Ferguson was making his contribution to the Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives this afternoon.

He’s also criticizing the government for not increasing public sector pension benefits this fiscal year.
