Opposition Senator, Damion Crawford, is calling for Parliament to ban universities which benefit from government funding from de-registering students.
Crawford says de-registering university students is counter-productive.
Senator Crawford was making his contribution to the State of the Nation debate in the Upper House today.
He proposed an alternative to the de-registration policy which is used at some universities.
