Opposition Spokesman Supports Call for Decriminalization of Abortion

Opposition Spokesperson on Gender, the People’s National Party’s Natalie Neita, is joining with Member of Parliament for West Rural St. Andrew, Juliet Cuthbert Flynn, in calling for abortion to be decriminalized.

Mrs. Cuthbert Flynn yesterday filed a private member’s motion in the House of Representatives calling for sections of the Offences Against the Person Act which criminalise abortion, to be removed and replaced with a civil law.

Ms. Neita says women who’re victims of rape and incest and those faced with medical complications, should be given the right to choose to terminate the pregnancy.

She says fathers should also be included in the discussion surrounding the woman’s choice to terminate a pregnancy.

But she doesn’t support men having a say if they’re perpetrators of rape and incest.
