Oracabessa Residents Protest Poor Roads

85

Residents in Oracabessa, St. Mary this morning staged a massive protest over the poor conditions of the Hamilton Mountain Road in the parish.

They mounted a massive roadblock, demanding that the MP for West St. Mary, the PNP’s Jolyan Silvera address the problem immediately.

Residents say the Hamilton Mountain Road and the Bailey Bridge have been in a state of disrepair for years.

A woman who gave her name as Orlando Comrie, spoke to our news centre.

A taxi operator told us that the bad roads have damaged his motor vehicle.

Another protestor told our newsroom that MP Silvera is aware of the road situation, but has been missing in action.

The protestors say the roads are also causing difficulties for tour operators who transport tourists.
