PDF: PJ Lashes David Cameron in Open Letter

Former Prime Minister of Jamaica, PJ Patterson has penned an open letter to UK Prime Minister, David Cameron, on the now controversial issues of Reparations and the Prisoner Transfer Agreement.

The strongly worded letter makes it clear to the British Premier that the good behavior of the Jamaican Parliamentarians during his address to the special joint sitting of the Houses must not be mistaken for agreement with his posture. He demanded Britain apologize for Slavery and the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, saying Jamaica and the region will not move on without an apology.

+so who is taking anything Pj says seriously…not Cameron , that’s for sure…PF is trying to stay RELEVANT..octogenerians have no future in politics..

    1. dennisp

REPARATION FOR SLAVERY is Not POLITICS. PJ like all black person have the right to raise this issue so that it can be addressed

      1. John H Christian

If REPARATION is not POLITCS , Why is it being raised so close to the Election..and that failed Octogenarian PM, is writing letters that HAVE no Chance of accomplishing anything….when u get ur Mule and 10, thousand Dollars, u can have my Mule and 10 thousand Dollars..bunch of Idle people…

        1. SmithMax

Our PM not speaking enough for the people as is. Sure, resentment is there for the trials & tribulations that the PJ led administration, post Manley era caused. However, is staying relevant for this cause such a bad thing? We the people (followers) must hold our leaders accountable, so how about figuring out a way where we can all kumbaya for the better, rather than igniting the finger pointing wheel of non progress, Mr. Christian sir?

          1. John H Christian

KUMBAYA is for DREAMERS…nutten no go so in the REAL World..u could ignite that wheel till jesus Come, the leadership u have had the last 31 of 43 years, is the cause of the Morass holding Back the Once Pearl of the Caribbean…

          2. SmithMax

You are so bent on your point, you missed the request in mine. I’ll add 200 + to one of yours, “the leadership u have had the last 31 of 43 years”…..Henry Morgan was Jamaica’s 1st Governor appointed by….? So lets face it, this thing is bigger than 31- 43 years ago. The pearl oysters, can be stimulated to produce pearls naturally or artificially. Seems like you want to get back to that time of ‘stimulation’ to get back your pearls?

          3. SmithMax

Under the Treaty of Madrid ( England claimed Jamaica as their own in 1670) Henry Morgan was thrice Lieutenant Governor (acting). I’ll admit, the his-story is conflicting (do your own research, the truth will enlighten your prejudice). Fact remains, only your arrogance clouds your judgement.

          4. John H Christian

What JUDGEMENT..I am a Political and SOCIAL commentator…u missed the Boat..i have no need for REASEARCH..how did u Jokers Manage 17 years ago BEFOR GOOGLE was Created..u were all DUNCE..

Oh, a commentator indeed. Hot air much? Any one claiming no need for research is a fool. Thank goodness for messrs Brinn & Page whose invention, highlights your myopia.

          6. John H Christian

U had no ability to know anything before Larry Paige and Sergey Brinn created GOOGLE,,,Prior to that you were all intellectuall challenged and uninformed..My generation went to a Real SCHOOL before these two were Born, where we were taught by Intelligent folks,.. among the Things that were Stressed to us, was to Be CURIOUS and Enquiring, and to think thru things, and produce SOLUTIONS.. then there is this other experience, my Generation Had..EXPOSUER and PROPER Socialization, along with wonderfull Parenting, Parents that kept our Very Curious Minds Fed and Informed, Every House that I knew had Encyclopedias and Volumes of Current reading material…..Wrong use of the Word Myopia….u should have said “highlights your Myopic View”..of course I have no myopic view..maybe what u should have said is “My Dismissive approach”..so many possibilities…what school did u attend..Sounds as if u are a Jamal alumni..Ps, I am a very well informed Social and political Commentator, among other skills, what I have forgotten you may stumble across in the next 30 years,…Keep striving, do not Despair..so keep at it SmithMax..I wish u well….read some BOOKS..and be Curious..

          7. SmithMax

‘Laughter is the best medicine’ Thank-you for your comical commentary:) Back & forth-ing aside, solutions we should focus on. Problems are in abundance, not effective solutions. So, let PJ stay relevant and I do hope the objective of his letter will resonate in Britain (like the crash of the financial sector in the 90’s). Walk good Ian of Christ.

          8. John H Christian

I am going to allow u the last word..PJ is no longer Relevant…he is too old..Next SUBJECT..this one is Exhausted..

          9. SmithMax

Man I am still laughing:) I swear, there needs to be standup comedy somewhere for you to headline a show!

Maybe you are a failed Octogenarian yourself. If David Cameron just made the statement about REPARATIONS don’t you think that now is the time for a timely response ? Do you want him to respond way after the statement was made? Then you have another reason to criticize him and call him failure. By the way NO Election date has been set how do you know it is “raised so close to the election.” Are u psychic or you have insider information? We have a bad habit of not staying on one issue. PJ and anyone who raises the issue of REPARATION must be commended. This is bigger than politics and we must keep the pressure up until it is addressed appropriately. One more thing FYI if you studied the life of PJ PATTERSON you can only conclude that he is more accomplished rather than being a failure. Also what do you have against OCTOGENARIANS or older people for that matter? We are nothing without our elders. If it wasn’t because of my GRANNY I would not be able to identify the NONSENSE that you speak.

          1. John H Christian

Ur granny failed she did not teach u the difference between Nonsense and sense..look as if u have no idea what an octogenerians is..Do me a Favour when u get ur MULE and 10 acres of REPARATION, tell them I told you to take mine also..PJ is still a Failure.. he wrecked Jamaica..Election on the way..VOTE Labour for PROSPERITY…lolo..

          2. Diana

If eighty+ are the years of irrelevance….shouldn’t you go sit your old ass down somewhere and wait to die ? You don’t look a day younger than PJ, and if you are, you must have had MANY tough years !

          3. John H Christian

U need OPTICAL assistance..try Bascom Palmer in Miami……lol…Pj is about to Enter the DEPARTURE lounge of life…im waiting on his flight to call lol…

          4. Diana

Seriously ? No really, you actually look extremely older than you are trying to imply. I’m thinking you are both waiting in the same lounge. You appear to have had a very hard life, if you are in fact younger than Mr. Patterson….U look old as hell dude…You need to be cheered up ! dwl !

          5. John H Christian

I can just imagine the burden u have to bear…as Winston Churchil said in the Morning u will still be Burdened by your Features…cheer up missis..

  2. chikV2Ebola

As a “political animal” the former PM sees the direction the tide is moving while our current PM cowers under the weather !..interesting times ahead !

I hate typos. PJ’s letter should have been proofread. He writes on Page3 —” The scars of this oppression are still in the minds and hearts of a million Jamaicans.” I am sure he wanted to say millions OF Jamaicans. If that’s not what he wanted to say then it would be ONE million. He cannot say that because he never counted and its too exact. At the end of the page last paragraph he says ” people’s lives.” Should be peoples’ lives.

    1. CherokeeGambol

seriously? I HATE people like you.. soooooo much!
In a letter of six pages you found two errors… I found four in YOUR one paragraph comment, see below, i have placed them in brackets for you:

”If that’s not what he wanted to say(,) then it would (should have) be(been) ONE million.”

”He cannot say that because he never counted and it(‘)s too exact.”

      1. dennisp

Cherokee Gambol please go to anger management classes. Do not hate me because I am CORRECT. A former PRIME MINISTER is writing to the present English Prime Minister in an open letter and I expect the letter to be proofread and perfectly written. Why take issue with that ? Finding errors I made is a waste of your time. If I was PM it would be perfect.

      2. Annie Slater

You are a genius he don’t like typo wat an idiot let him read this reply now forgetting the whole concept of wats going on SMH

    2. Scope

I do not think that was a
typo. That is more a generalized statement, more of an opinion. There is no way
he can prove that. He is trying to say that is something that many Jamaicans
believe. However, I have identified a typo on page 5: “…work off the $27
million promised slave holders.” He missed his preposition there. I agree,
for an open letter coming from a former prime minister, this should have been proofread
x 10. I am sure he was writing with blood in his eyes. The tone of
his letter is F U Cameron.

  4. John H Christian

The PNP dumping all the bright young MP’s and elevating a Spent Octogenerian..that is not progress..

    Isaiah 10King James Version (KJV)

    10 Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;

2 To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right
from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they
    may rob the fatherless!

3 And what will ye do in the day of
visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom
will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?

Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall
under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand
    is stretched out still.

5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the
people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to
take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

8 For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?

9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?

    10 As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;

11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed
his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit
of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high

13 For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done
it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of
the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the
    inhabitants like a valiant man:

14 And my hand hath found as a
nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left,
have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing,
or opened the mouth, or peeped.

15 Shall the axe boast itself
against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself
against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against
them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it
    were no wood.

16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts,
send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a
burning like the burning of a fire.

17 And the light of Israel
shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and
    devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

    18 And shall
consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul
and body: and they shall be as when a standard-bearer fainteth.

19 And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.

20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel,
and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay
upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the Lord, the Holy One of
    Israel, in truth.

21 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.

22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a
remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow
    with righteousness.

23 For the Lord God of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.

24 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, O my people that
dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee
with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner
    of Egypt.

25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.

26 And the Lord of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to
the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the
sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.

    27 And it
shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away
from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke
shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

28 He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:

29 They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.

30 Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.

31 Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.

32 As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand
against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

33 Behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, shall lop the bough with
terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty
    shall be humbled.

34 And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

    1. Rev.John Goffe

Hi Dr. Christina Sincair! Very good choice of Scripture for what is needed here, however I think a more contemporary version, like the ( ERV ) Easy to Read Version, ( MKJV ) Modern King James Version, ( NKJV ) New King James Version, ( CEV ) Contemporary English Version, and the ( ESV ) English Standard Version, etc., would be more appropriate because of the readability that they offer.. In these contemporary times, I think God’s Word can/should be exposit with clarity in a contemporary world… Because most of what is said here in the ( KJV ) went over the heads of most! Let me know if you would like something more contemporary I would be glad to help!! The kings language needs an upgrade, no one speaks like that anymore not even the people of England!

Cameron is an abysmal example of a human being. He wants to roll back the clock, reassert colonialism, and bring back the empire. He is not only delusional, but a racist classist unfeeling person. His insult to Jamaica is huge. He should be banned from ever visiting Jamaica again, and hopefully his offer of a prison will be rejected. What a pig.

    1. Rannyd Welch

What a load of crap no disrespect to Jamaicans but they take their fuckery where ever they go don’t get me wrong here either we island people leave to come to bigger countries to better ourselves, but instead of that we come wid the same fuckery we left behind. Furthermore, they need to start hanging the cunts that fucking up the islands Barbados , Trinidad and Jamaica real talk!!

  7. popcorn

Well said Mr Patterson. Lets wait and see the results now. Thanks on behalf of us Jamaicans… someone with good sense speak up.
