Pence Calls Holness


US Vice President-elect, Governor Mike Pence, today telephoned Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

Both discussed the strengthening of ties between Jamaica and the United States.

A statement this afternoon from Jamaica House says the Prime Minister congratulated Governor Pence on his administration’s election to the presidency of the United States.

Both men also discussed Jamaica’s strong relationship with the people of the US and stronger cultural links between both countries.

According to the statement, Prime Minister Holness also made reference to the strong ties between Jamaica and the United States in the areas of national security, trade and energy.

The Prime Minister also expressed an interest in strengthening relations particularly in investment.

Prime Minister Holness told the Vice President-elect that he’s optimistic about the future relationship between Jamaica and the US.

He also confirmed during the conversation Jamaica’s continuing interest in building stronger ties with the US and enhancing current partnerships for the benefit of Jamaica, the Caribbean and the world.

Jamaica House says both Governor Pence and Prime Minister Holness pledged to continue their dialogue on areas of mutual interest.

During the call, Prime Minister Holness noted Governor Pence’s strong Christian background and conveyed his best wishes to new administration.
