Director General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica, PIOJ, Dr. Wayne Henry, says the country’s growth rate may be impacted by the continued heavy rains affecting the island.
However, he says the information is preliminary and not conclusive.
At the monthly Mayberry investors’ forum on Wednesday, Finance Minister Audley Shaw told the nation that he’s expecting a downward revision in growth, to one-percent.
Dr. Henry says the Finance Minister’s assessment may not be far off.
However, the PIOJ boss believes building resilience is the best strategy going forward.
