Prime Minister Andrew Holness has committed to reducing murders to below the regional average within the next 8 years through plan Secure Jamaica.
He made the statement while addressing the House of Representatives yesterday.
The Prime Minister made it clear that regular policing will not achieve the desired outcome. He highlighted the dramatic reduction in murders over 2018 due to the implementation of the States of Public Emergency.
But, Mr. Holness says if crime was a disease Jamaica would be at epidemic levels.
Prime Minister Holness says the government will do everything within its power to ensure the safety of Jamaicans.
