Prominent criminal defence lawyer, Valerie Neita Robertson, was on Sunday evening introduced to PNP supporters as the party’s standard-bearer for the West Portland constituency.
The announcement was made during a contentious meeting at the Buff Bay Primary school in the parish.
Other members of the PNP West Portland constituency executive were also elected at the Divisional Conference.
Some PNP supporters who left the meeting early expressed anger at some of the people chosen to sit on the executive.
Media personnel who attempted to cover the Divisional Conference were told they’d not be allowed to enter the school by a PNP activist and other party supporters.
When the meeting ended – Mrs. Neita Robertson declined to comment on her candidacy. She says she’ll not speak on the issue until her candidacy is formally ratified by the PNP National Executive Council, NEC.
The incumbent MP for West Portland is the JLP’s, Daryl Vaz.
