PNP Moves to Heal South St Andrew Wounds

The Opposition PNP says moves are being made to unite its South St. Andrew organization following a contentious contest to succeed Dr. Omar Davies as Chairman for the constituency and Member of Parliament.

As part of the initiative, Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller is to address a rally this week at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

Dr. Davies and Mark Golding are scheduled to attend the rally, which is to take place under the theme South St. Andrew Forward In Unity.

Senator Golding beat former PNP General Secretary Colin Campbell by 70 votes to 8 in the recent contest for the Chairmanship of the constituency.

It’s not immediately clear when Dr. Davies will step down to make way for Senator Golding to enter the House of Representatives.

Golding is Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate.
