The People’s National Party, PNP is expected to make a decision by Wednesday, on the outcome of the councilor candidate selection process for the Sandy Bay division in Eastern Hanover.
Councilor for the division, the PNP’s Lloyd Hill has decided not to contest the next local government elections.
Those vying to replace him on the PNP ticket are principal of the Maryland All Age School in the parish, Andria Duhaney Dinham, and teacher Gregory Allen.
The party secretariat became involved following a contentious voting process yesterday, which resulted in a tie between both candidates, with both receiving 49 votes.
According to the election overseer, Donald Colomathi, in such a case, the constituency organization, under the directive of the PNP Executive, decides who wins the election .
One of the councilor candidates, Gregory Allen, says there were several irregularities in the voting process.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Duhaney Dinham says she’s confident she’ll emerge the winner.
