PNPYO Calls for Resignation of Justice Minister, Delroy Chuck After Reid Comments

The People’s National Party Youth Organisation, PNPYO, President, Krystal Tomlinson is calling for the resignation of Justice Minister, Delroy Chuck.

The YO’s call comes following the the utterances of Mr. Chuck who said the authorities’ approach to detain former Education Minister, Ruel Reid yesterday was improper.

The Justice Minister also said the approach was unnecessary given it appears Reid had been co-operating with the investigation. Ms. Tomlinson is describing his utterances as ‘elitist and self serving.’

The PNPYO says Mr. Chuck’s statements have eroded any confidence that he will not interfere with the investigation and prosecution of the case.

The PNPYO President says the utterances of the Justice Minister could affect the morale of the authorities.

She says the Minister’s actions appear to be in breach of the 2002 Government of Jamaica Code governing the conduct of Ministers.
