Commissioner of Police, Major General Antony Anderson, says the police will be targeting the financiers of crime in the troubled St. Andrew South Police Division.
According to Commissioner Anderson, there are 31 active gangs in the police division.
He says many of these gangs are being funded by people who live outside the division and persons who are based overseas.
Commissioner Anderson says both the people providing the money and their cronies will be targeted by the police.
He says the Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF, has already started diverting resources from other parts of the country to the troubled St. Andrew South.
Commissioner Anderson says the Constabulary is also engaging residents during their policing of volatile areas in the division.
Major General Anderson was speaking yesterday at the Hunt’s Bay Police Station before a tour of the St. Andrew South Police Division.
