Police High Command Encouraged by Reduced Sickout Numbers

The Police High Command says it’s encouraged that a reduced number of its personnel stayed off the job today.

The Officer in charge of the Operations portfolio in the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Clifford Blake, is praising the members of the Constabulary who held the fort during the sickout.

Reports are that over the past few days nearly 1-third of the JCF have called in sick.

Rank and file members of the JCF are reportedly restive about the pace of wage negotiations with the Government.

DCP Blake says he’s sensitive to the need for an improvement in the wages being paid to police personnel.

However, the senior officer says he’s also sensitive to the financial constraints facing the Government and by extension the country.

DCP Blake says he’s, therefore, appealing for mutual understanding between the negotiating parties.
