Police Kill Escaped Prisoner in St. James

One of the six prisoners who escaped from the Montego Freeport police lockup in St James last week, was today shot and killed in a shoot out with the Police.

Head of the St. James Police, Senior Superintendent Steve McGregor, says the dead man is Benjamin Stephens.

The 21 year old Stephens, who was from Lucea in Hanover, was facing charges of murder and shooting with intent.

The other escapee involved in today’s gun battle with the Police was shot. But he escaped.

SSP McGregor is appealing to Jamaicans not to harbor any of the escapees.
