Police Launch Major Investigation into Car Scrapping Allegations

The Inspectorate of Constabulary, IOC, has launched a major investigation into claims a St Catherine woman’s car was scrapped while in the custody of the Bridgeport Police.

The allegations were first reported by Nationwide News on Tuesday this week.

The woman — Dianne Walker — says the Police had taken her vehicle into custody after it was involved in a two-vehicle collision.

Head of the Police’s Corporate Communications Unit, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, Dahlia Garrick revealed that the investigation is underway.

Ms Walker told our News Centre her vehicle was resting on stones when she visited the Bridgeport Police station last week. She has since filed an official report at the Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM.

Ms Walker has also been advised to retain a lawyer with a view to filing a lawsuit.
