Political Analyst and Attorney-at-Law, Dr. Paul Ashley, says the Financial Investigation Division, FID may need external help to expedite its probe into corruption cases.
This after FID’s Chief Technical Director, Robin Sykes reported that the division was in receipt of advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, urging additional investigative work in relation to the Ruel Reid/ CMU scandal.
Dr Ashley wasn’t satisfied with the pace of the probe.
Dr. Ashley says he’s confused by the Office of the DPP’s latest statement in relation to the Ruel Reid/CMU money scandal suggesting more investigation is needed to advance the matter.
He says delays into corruption investigations may encourage assumptions and even defamation.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ashley says he’s concerned about reports that documents are still being shredded as procedure when a Minister demits office.
He notes that in the case of sacked Education Minister Ruel Reid, the investigators would be at a disadvantage.
