Chairman of the PNP’s International Affairs Commission, Horace Dalley says he feels US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo’s visit to the region was an attempt at dividing CARICOM states ahead of the OAS vote for Secretary-General in March.
The US Secretary has said he’s hoping the Caribbean would support their candidate and outgoing Secretary-General, Luis Almagro.
But Mr Dalley says the party doesn’t support this move.
He says the party expressed it’s concerning on the matter today on meeting the US Secretary of State.
Mr Dalley says while the PNP can’t advise the Government of Jamaica on whether to vote for Mr Almargo in March, the region’s divided on Almargo’s return.

Mr Dalley says he agrees with Prime Minister Holness’ comment on peace in the region during the US Secretary of State’s visit.
