PNP President Portia Simpson Miller has charged comrades to ensure the party retains control of the Municipal Corporations as the governing party cannot be trusted with another layer of power.
Speaking at a meeting in Linstead, St Catherine last night, Mrs. Simpson Miller bemoaned attempts by the government in parliament this week to push through a bill aimed at separating the Portmore Municipality from the St Catherine Municipal Corporation.
According to Mrs. Simpson Miller, the JLP cannot be trusted with additional power.
Mrs. Simpson Miller told supporters they should do everything to ensure PNP candidates are successful in the local government election.
And, acknowledging supporters of the JLP who were passing the meeting, the PNP President promised a political thrashing.
