Prime Minister Andrew Holness today launched a pilot project in which 5,000 solar lamps will be distributed in several constituencies to assist energy-poor households.
The distribution is to be managed by the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica, PCJ. Mr. Holness addressed the launch today at the Office of the Prime Minister.
He noted that one of the main aims of the project is to reduce the number of lives and property destroyed in blazes caused by open flame sources.
East Kingston Member of Parliament, the PNP’s Phillip Paulwell and West Rural St. Andrew MP, the JLP’s, Juliet Cuthbert Flynn were among the MPs in attendance at today’s handing over ceremony.
