The Caribbean Development Bank, CDB, is seeking to get young motorists across the region to slow down on the roads.
The CDB has partnered with the Inter-American Development Bank, IDB, to launch “Project Yellow Light”, a video contest for Latin American and Caribbean youth.
Young people between 18 and 30 years, are invited to submit a 25 or 55-second video on the importance of responsible and safe driving.
The CDB’s Operations Officer, Glen McCarvell, says the project is a natural extension of the bank’s work to promote road safety awareness.
The top three finalists will win a trip to Mexico in October, to present their work and attend the Formula-one Grand Prix.
There’s been a spike in road fatalities in Jamaica this year, with 1-hundred-and-78 deaths reported between January 1 and July 2.
