Legislation for judge-only trials for non-capital murder and the right to appeal for prosecutors are closer to becoming realities.
Justice Minister Delroy Chuck, told the House of Representatives yesterday that it will soon be presented.
He was responding to recommendations made in the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry Report.
The Commission of Enquiry was convened to probe the May 2010 security force operations to arrest then Tivoli Don, Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.
The Justice Minister says another key legislation to come will amend the Extradition Act to make it mandatory that the Minister make a decision on the authority to proceed within a finite time.
He also says Political Ombudsman Donna Parchment Brown has sent submissions on the dismantling of political garrisons.
