PSTEB Considering More Changes to Manage Mandela Traffic Flow

Commanding Officer of the Constabulary’s Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, PSTEB, Senior Superintendent Calvin Allen, says the authorities are thinking of making more changes to Mandela Highway to improve the traffic flow.

According to SSP Allen, Mandela Highway is the most traversed roadway in the country. It sees more than 70,000vehicles per day.

There were some issues with congestion yesterday as the Hydel Group of Schools welcomed students to the new school year.

Motorists traveling from Tom Cringle Drive in St Andrew filtering onto Mandela Highway, which spans both St Andrew and St Catherine, will no longer be allowed to turn right at the traffic lights in that area.

Meanwhile, SSP Allen says traffic is flowing more freely in the vicinity of the Portmore toll road, where there were reports of congestion on Monday.
