The Electoral Commission of Jamaica, ECJ, is reminding the public that they have until September 30 to register and be included on the next voters’ list .
In a release today, the ECJ says anyone who registers after the September 30 deadline will have to wait until May 31, 2016 to be added to the voters’ list.
Those persons will then be ineligible to vote if an election were called before then.
The ECJ is urging persons to visit their EOJ constituency office to complete the enumeration process .
It says persons who register before the September 30 deadline, should expect to receive their ID cards by mid-December.
The ECJ says the current voters’ list now stands at approximately 1-million-7-hundred-thousand persons, following additions from the previous enumeration window which closed in May.
