The man who police say is the reputed leader of the Rose Town-based Discipline Gang, Uriel James, otherwise called ‘Rooksie’, is this afternoon nursing gunshot wounds, after being shot this morning.
The alleged leader of the West Kingston-based gang was shot in the vicinity of Spartan Health Club, on Lady Musgrave Road, New Kingston, about 7:50 this morning. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Two men were arrested by the police after they were reportedly apprehended by members of a security company, King Alarm.
According to a statement on the official Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Twitter account a Ruger pistol, a Glock pistol and 22 rounds of ammunition were seized following the incident.
Reports are James was in a car heading to the popular gym when he was pounced upon by two armed men who fired on the car.
Eyewitnesses say the two alleged gunmen were reportedly asked to drop their weapons by the private security team.
After a brief standoff police were able to arrest both men and seize their weapons.
Videos of the two men being apprehended by personnel from the security company is being circulated on social media.
In the police’s social media statement the security personnel from King Alarm were commended for their role in the apprehension of the alleged shooters.
