The Westmoreland Police is dismissing claims that the capital Savanna-la-mar is being overrun by criminals.
The parish is facing a spike in violent activity since the start of the year, recording nearly fifty murders.
Head of the Westmoreland Police, Superintendent Gary McKenzie, says the rise in crime is unsettling.
He also gave details about one of the latest murders in Savanna-la-mar.
Superintendent Gary Mckenzie says residents set fire to a house in the area because they believed it belonged to someone who was involved in the murder.
