Security Forces Encouraged by Drastic Cut in St James Murders, says Acting Commissioner

Acting Commissioner of Police, Clifford Blake, says the security forces are encouraged by the drastic cut in murders in St James since the declaration of a State of Public Emergency.

The State of Public Emergency was implemented in the parish on January 18 and was last week extended for three months.

Commissioner Blake in addressing a stakeholders’ meeting in St James following a tour of the parish, noted that such a quiet period has not been seen in St James for years.

This, the Acting Commissioner says, inspires hope.

Acting Commissioner Blake called on all residents to participate in making the gains realized so far permanent.

Acting Commissioner of Police Blake was in charge of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Strategic Operations portfolio before assuming the position of Acting Commissioner on the 1st of February.
