The security forces are yet to ascertain, if a man killed in an alleged gun battle with them on Monday morning in St James is, in fact, one of the country’s most wanted – Delano Wilmot, otherwise called Prekeh.

The unidentified man was killed in a joint police-military operation in Cambridge in southern St. James. But, the dead man is believed to be one of two wanted men.

The other being Wilmot’s crony, Richard Anderson, otherwise known as Cruz.

Civil and Military Cooperation Officer with the Jamaica Defence Force, Major Basil Jarrett says the operation in St. James is still underway.

Wilmot became the leader of the Ratty gang when its founder, Ryan ‘Ratty’ Peterkin, was killed earlier this year.

In September this year, the JDF vowed to hunt down and flush out Wilmot and other gangsters.

This, after the thugs ambushed a joint police-military patrol in Richmond Hill, St James. Two soldiers were shot and injured during the attack.
