Two influential private sector leaders have supported a reported call by National Security Minister, Robert Montague, to amend the laws allowing the Minister more say in the operational aspect of the police force.
President of the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association, Metry Seaga, and President of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica, Howard Mitchell met with the Minister of Friday. Mr. Mitchell says he fully endorses the suggestion.
It’s understood that at the meeting the Security Minister noted that it’s the government that people usually seek answers from about crime.
JMA, President, Metry Seaga, says the current dynamic is unfair.
Both men agreed that the Minister and Police Commissioner are capable and willing to tackle Jamaica’s crime problem.
Mr. Seaga says the Opposition and the Country must get behind any crime-fighting initiative.
