Security Ministry Pumps $161-million to Boost Forensics

The Ministry of National Security has invested $161-million to improve the capacity of the Institute of Forensic Science and Legal Medicine.

In a statement earlier this week, the Ministry says the money will be used to build new facilities in an effort to have more robust processing of evidence related to criminal matters.

The new facilities will collectively be referred to as the Annex.

Construction of the Annex began in November of last year and will replace temporary containers being used at the facility.

The Annex will also house the DNA Database, a training conference room and a library. It will also be used to store exhibits.

The building is to be completed in June this year.
