Chairman of the People’s National Party, Fitz Jackson, says the compromise reached by the Government and the Opposition to relax closing times for businesses operating in the St. Catherine and Clarendon States of Emergency are a victory for residents of the parish.

The Government and Opposition ended a lengthy delay in the House of Representatives last night by agreeing to extend the enhanced security measure by 30 days.

But only if the government agreed to relax the closing times for businesses in the parishes.

Mr. Jackson says the relaxed times are especially important to residents of Portmore St. Catherine, who tend to operate in the evenings and nights.
